Instructions to make Malabar Coconut Milk Mutton Curry:
  1. Slightly crush the whole spices in a mortar and pestle.
  2. Heat the coconut oil in a pressure cooker. Sautee the crushed dry spices until they sputter.
  3. Now add sliced onion ginger garlic green chilli curry leaves and fry.
  4. Add the turmeric chilli powder coriander powder garam masala along with mutton and water.
  5. Add the salt. Mix well. Cover the cooker and let it cook for 3-4 whistles or until mutton gets soft and tender.
  6. Add coconut milk, curry leaves. Check for salt add more if necessary.
  7. In a little coconut oil sputter the mustard seeds, dried red chillies and some curry leaves. Add this tempering to the curry.
  8. Continue to cook it for another 2 mins on low flame.
  9. Serve Malabar coconut milk mutton curry with uthappam, dosa, idli, chapathi, naan or bread.
  10. Tips: the same recipe can be made with some potatoes and excluding the turmeric chilli powder coriander powder to make it a stew or soup.
